Government Medical College, Kottayam is the third medical college in Kerala, established in 1962. It was formally inaugurated on December 3, 1962, by Sri R. Sankar, the then Chief Minister of Kerala, in the presence of Sri M. P. Govindan Nair, the Health Minister.
