Jorhat Medical College & Hospital (JMCH) is a prominent medical institution located in Jorhat, Assam, India. Established on October 12, 2009, it stands as the fourth medical college in the state, bringing advanced medical education and healthcare services to the region. The foundation stone of JMCH was laid by then Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh on August 25, 2008, marking the beginning of a significant development in Assam's healthcare infrastructure. The hospital wing of the college was inaugurated by the then Chief Minister of Assam, Tarun Gogoi, on October 12, 2009.

The college was created to address the acute shortage of medical professionals in Assam, filling a critical gap in the state's healthcare delivery system. The college is designed to cater to the medical needs of over 1.2 million people in Jorhat and its neighboring districts, including Golaghat, Sivasagar, and Majuli. Additionally, it serves patients from nearby states such as Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh, making it a pivotal healthcare institution in Northeast India.

Academically, JMCH is affiliated with Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences and the Medical Council of India. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate medical programs, admitting 125 undergraduates and 45 postgraduates annually. The college provides a comprehensive curriculum that includes various medical disciplines such as Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Community Medicine, and several clinical specialties including Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, and Psychiatry, among others.

JMCH boasts state-of-the-art facilities, including a 500-bed ultramodern hospital equipped with a full-fledged outpatient complex, an emergency wing, and a robust diagnostic setup with a central laboratory operating round the clock. The hospital is well-furnished with advanced imaging facilities, including X-ray, Ultrasound, Doppler, CT Scan, and MRI Scan capabilities. It also features a sophisticated operation theater complex, intensive care units (ICU, ICCU, NICU, PICU), and dialysis facilities, ensuring comprehensive patient care. The college campus is designed to house all necessary infrastructure, promoting an integrated academic and clinical environment.

The establishment of JMCH was facilitated by the acquisition of 62 bighas of private land, completed in a cooperative atmosphere. The institution's development was overseen by the Society for Medical Education, Jorhat, under the leadership of Dr. Dhrubajyoti Borah, the founding principal. The college's infrastructure was meticulously planned and executed by M/s Hospitech Management Consultants Pvt. Ltd. through national competitive bidding, ensuring that the facilities meet modern healthcare standards.
