Government Medical College, Kota, established in 1992, is a prominent public medical institution located in Kota, Rajasthan, India. Initially, before its establishment, the Kota division lacked a medical college, which was a significant gap in the region’s educational infrastructure. This need was addressed when the state government decided to establish the college on February 10, 1992. The college commenced its journey in a portion of the ESI hospital in Kota, under the leadership of its first principal, Dr. R.L. Ajmera. In 1997, the college relocated to its current expansive campus situated on Rangbari Road, approximately 14 kilometers from the Kota Junction railway station and about 10 kilometers from the Rajasthan Roadways bus stand.

The campus of Government Medical College, Kota, spans 2.25 square kilometers and encompasses various essential facilities. The college building houses the administrative block, an auditorium, indoor courts and gymnasium, an E-Library, E-Classrooms, separate hostels for boys and girls, a guest house, and accommodation for faculty and staff. Additionally, the campus includes a new Medical College Hospital and an independent branch of the State Bank of India (SBI). The college offers a broad spectrum of academic programs. Initially, it started with an intake of 50 MBBS students, which has now been increased to 250 students per batch from the 2019 session. Besides the MBBS program, the college also provides postgraduate courses such as MD and MS, along with various super-speciality programs.

The academic structure of the college is well-organized, with departments dedicated to non-clinical and para-clinical subjects like Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Forensic Medicine, and Preventive & Social Medicine. To support the educational needs of its students, the college features a spacious examination hall, four lecture theatres each with a seating capacity of 300 students, a central library, and a well-equipped conference hall. The college is affiliated with the Rajasthan University of Health Sciences, ensuring that its curriculum and standards are in line with the regulatory requirements.

Government Medical College, Kota, is allied with multiple hospitals to provide hands-on clinical training to its students. The associated hospitals include MBS Hospital and JayKay Lon, with the addition of the NMC Hospital being the latest.
