"Calcutta National Medical College was established in 1948 and has evolved from its roots as the ‘National Medical Institute’ founded in 1921 as a result of the Non-cooperation movement and was opened by Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. Known as Chittaranjan Hospital, the college has been one of the leading public medical colleges and hospitals in West Bengal, India since it has been in existence since 1948.
