The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh, stands as a beacon of medical excellence and a crucial institution aimed at addressing regional disparities in healthcare. Approved under Phase V of the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY), AIIMS Bilaspur was established with the goal of providing affordable and reliable tertiary healthcare services while also enhancing the quality of medical education in India. The foundation stone of AIIMS Bilaspur was laid by the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, on October 3, 2017. The project spans an impressive area of 247 acres and is being developed in three phases. The first phase, which includes a 750-bed hospital with 41 specialty and super-specialty departments, was completed in a record time of three years.

AIIMS Bilaspur commenced its first academic session on January 12, 2021, with an inaugural batch of 50 MBBS students. The institute is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities including 64 ICU beds, 20 modular operation theatres, and advanced diagnostic services such as CT, MRI, and digital radiography. These facilities ensure comprehensive healthcare services and advanced medical treatments for patients. The institution also boasts of a modern Cath lab and dialysis facilities, making it a pivotal healthcare provider in the region. Furthermore, AIIMS Bilaspur has embraced technology in healthcare delivery by launching teleconsultation services through the e-Sanjeevani OPD portal on May 21, 2021, which was later upgraded to the e-Sanjeevani hub for Medical Officers to Specialist consultations in June 2022.

The outpatient department (OPD) services were inaugurated on December 5, 2022, by the Hon'ble Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Mansukh L Mandaviya, providing services in 19 specialties and super-specialties. These services initially operated from the Ayush Block before shifting to the permanent Hospital Block B on August 9, 2022. Limited inpatient department (IPD) services began in Hospital Block A on September 15, 2022, and diagnostic services became functional in the Diagnostic Block (Hospital Block C), where facilities like laboratory services and a Blood Bank are available.

AIIMS Bilaspur is also committed to providing affordable medications and consumables through its AMRIT Pharmacy and Jan Aushadhi Kendra, which are part of the institute's initiative to make quality healthcare accessible to all. The institution is empaneled under prominent health insurance schemes like PMJAY and HIMCARE, further enhancing its reach and service capabilities.

The academic framework of AIIMS Bilaspur is designed to foster high standards in medical education and research.
