In light of recent incidents of violence against doctors in medical colleges, it is imperative for all medical institutions to prioritize the safety and well-being of their staff, including faculty, medical students, and resident doctors. To this end, medical colleges are urged to implement comprehensive policies that ensure a secure work environment. Key measures should include enhanced security in OPD, wards, casualty areas, hostels, and other campus locations, complemented by well-lit corridors and CCTV monitoring of sensitive areas.
Additionally, adequate security personnel, both male and female, should be stationed across the campus to ensure the safety of all staff members. In the event of any violent incident, prompt investigation by college management is crucial, and an FIR should be filed with the police. Furthermore, a detailed action report must be submitted to the National Medical Commission within 48 hours of any such incident.
By adopting these measures, medical colleges can create a safer, more supportive environment that fosters the well-being and productivity of all their staff and students.
