About College
"Rural Medical College (RMC) and Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) are parts of the same Trust known as the Pravara Medical Trust which is located in Loni, Maharashtra - India. The medical institution was started in 1984 by Dr. Balasaheb Vikhe Patil aiming at providing medical health to the people who resided in the villages of India. RMC is also part of PIMS-Deemed University which was set up in 2003 and has broad range of courses related to healthcare education. PIMS is well known for its efforts to enhance the healthcare and medical education and research opportunities in rural areas.
Campuses
The Amrita School of Medicine has a number of multiple campuses including those in Kochi, Kerala and Faridabad in Haryana. The campus in Kochi is based in the 12-Storey Building of a total built up area of One hundred twenty thousand square feet attached to a 11-storied hospital with an additional 1.1 million square feet area. The facilities are constructed to international standards, thus, providing the students with opportunities for advanced medical technologies and the necessary learning environment.
Hospitals
It is affiliated to some of the largest and most sophisticated multispecialty private hospitals such as Amrita Hospital, Faridabad and Amrita Hospital, Kochi as well. These hospitals greatly enrich the students medically through their clinical exposure and training."
Research and Innovation
Amrita School of Medicine has made serious efforts in the area of research, and has been working on culture of collaboration to make discoveries and innovations. The institution has participated in numerous funded projects and cooperations, enabling her to contribute to current medical advances. The school promotes research activities among its students and faculty, sometimes helping with funding towards international travel for paper presentations and conferences.

Rural Medical College is situated in Loni, Maharashtra within the premises of Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences, This is a fairly new medical college as it was established in 1984 but the uniqueness in the college lies in its approach of imparting medical education with the perspective of focusing on the underserved sections of society. It was the first College of medicine in India which aimed to strengthening the health system in rural parts of the country by supporting deserving candidates from these regions with quality education.
Mission and Vision
The college is dedicated to society through a primary focus in medical education, research and health care. It was formed with the objective of enabling meritorious children from rural areas to become competent heath care providers in their locality so as enhance the availability and quality of health care in rural areas. This initiative has helped in alleviating the shortage of medical personnel in areas that have been underserved.
Community Engagement
Another important aspect of the College’s philosophy is the so-called Community Oriented Medical Education, WHOOM.” M. Other Programs of Community & Academic Partnership (CAP) Programs include students participating into health projects and surveys of these villages enabling them to understand the socio-clinical dynamics of health care. The experiential learning programs held together with local communities and community public health personnel give students insight into rural problems of health delivery systems with opportunities for hands on experience.
